Lake Elmo Rotary Serves Families at Ronald McDonald House

Rotarians: Pam Baker, Liz Johnson, Lisa Kittel, Tamra Hartman, Michael Schaffer, Kelly Thauwald, Denise Cornell, Rotarian Guest Emily Thauwald

Members of Lake Elmo Rotary had the privilege to serve families with children undergoing medical treatment at Children's Hospital - St. Paul through the Ronald McDonald House located within the hospital.

Many families with children fighting illness and disease have a difficult time managing the rest of their family responsibilities and caring for other children while supporting their child through treatment. In many cases, meals fall to a matter of convenience and necessity - quick and off schedule.

The Lake Elmo Inn graciously catered the event, and the faces of those dining with us showed a mix of relief, joy, and gratitude. As many people know, a good meal can do wonders for the spirit.

Lake Elmo Rotary Helps Santa Provide Christmas Joy

Members of Lake Elmo Rotary had the honor to help Santa provide Christmas gifts to families in need at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in St. Paul.

The club members provided funds to purchase enough gifts for each of over 100 children to take something special home with them, and also assisted the kids in making craft projects to celebrate the season.

The true spirit of LERC was shown though in the enthusiasm (dress included) shown by the members acting as elves assisting Santa. The joy was evident on the faces of the kids and their parents alike.

Serving those around us is what LERC, and Rotary in general, is all about.
